Early days in Barcelona

Adama Traoré started his football life at Barcelona Youth Team at the age of 8 years. After 9 years, in 2013, he was promoted to team B, where he made his debut against Ponferradina. This was at the level of ‘Segunda Division.’

In 2013, he played his very first La Liga match: F.C Barcelona vs Granada. Adama Traoré replaced Neymar and was only 17 years old. In the same year, he made his first champions league appearance, where he came in for Cesc Fabregas. F.C Barcelona lost to Ajax: 1-2.

In the UEFA Youth League edition, Adama Traoré featured for the clubs under-19. He netted 2 goals in 5 matches. They won the trophy. His first goal for the Blaugrana would later come on the 16th of December 2014 while playing against Huesca.

In 2015, Traoré joined the Villas, thus making his debut in the premier league. Although he had signed a 5-years contract, Traoré left Aston Villa the following year, 2016. While at Aston Villa, he scored his first goal against Notts County in a League cup competition. That season, the team ended in relegation and he was dropped due to indiscipline matters.

Middlesbrough

Traoré would then sign a you-year deal with The Boro (Middlesbrough) at an undisclosed fee. He appeared in 31 games but did not score. In the club, he played under Garry Monk and Tony Pulis.

It’s at Middleborough that his pace caused a headache to most defenders in the championship. In the 2017-18 campaign, Traoré made an impressive performance. The club was knocked out of the promotion campaign by Aston Villa.

Nevertheless, Traoré won a treble: Middlesbrough’s Fans’ Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards. AMAZING!

Wolverhampton Wanderers

In August 2018, Wolverhampton Wanderers was a newly promoted club in the EPL. The club signed Traoré for a 5-year term. In September, the same year, he scored his first goal for Wolves. His first start for the club was in October 2018.

During his 50th appearance for Wolves, Traoré scored 2 goals against Manchester City – What a classy show on the pitch! His first UEFA goal was against Braga.

In January 2020, he won the PFA player of the month.

In 2021, Traoré marked his 100th EPL appearance for Wolves. For the 2021-2022 season, his debut goal was against Southampton – on 15th January 2022.

Return to Barcelona

On 29th January 2022, Barcelona signed Traoré. Although this was a loan agreement, Traoré has a high chance of remaining in Barcelona permanently. Xavi, the coach at the time he arrived, must have seen Traoré’s capability.

Return to Wolverhampton Wanderers

Adama’s contract with Barcelona expired on 30th June 2022. The player, therefore, caught up with his long time teams at Wolverhampton Wanderers in July 2022 for the 2022/23 Premier League season.
